MPAA DAO
Governance
Governance is vital to the decentralization and autonomy of MPAA. It determines all MPAA incentives matters, including protocol development, integrations, tokenomics, and more. The community plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the platform through proposals and voting. The governance model ensures that every participant has a voice and that the platform evolves in a direction that benefits all stakeholders.
Voting Power
Time-Weighted Voting
Time-weighted voting is used to provide long-term MPAA token holders greater governance weight and control over the MPAA. This system incentivizes holding tokens for extended periods, aligning the interests of the community with the platform's long-term success.
veMPAA
veMPAA (vote-escrowed MPAA) is the unit of MPAA governance voting power. It is received by staking locked MPAA tokens and is non-transferable. The veMPAA balance decays linearly as the remaining time until the staked or locked MPAA unlock decreases. This decay mechanism ensures that active and engaged participants have the most influence in governance decisions.
MPAA Foundation
The MPAA Foundation is dedicated to supporting the growth, development, and sustainability of the MPAA protocol. The foundation’s efforts include:
Community-Led Initiatives: Providing grants to contributors and supporting community-driven projects.
Partnerships: Forming strategic partnerships with other DeFi and crypto organizations to enhance the ecosystem.
Marketing and Communication: Promoting the platform and ensuring clear communication with the community.
Operations and Maintenance: Handling the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the MPAA protocol to ensure its smooth functioning.
Proposals & Voting
Proposals
Changes to the MPAA protocol must go through the Community Forum with a proposal. Proposals can be discussed in the Forum to gain sentiment and are classified as either Core or Protocol.
Core Proposals: These include changes to the governance process itself and the Multisig wallet. They require a quorum threshold of 10% and a support threshold of 80%.
Protocol Proposals: These include all other changes to the MPAA protocol, such as parameter changes, protocol code changes, and protocol treasury allocations. They require a quorum threshold of 2.5% and a support threshold of 70%.
Voting Process
Proposal Stage: The MPAA Foundation gathers user feedback through the community and forums, compiles it into complete proposals, and initiates proposals and voting on Snapshot.
Voting: Proposals with positive poll sentiment can be submitted to Snapshot by any holder of 50,000 veMPAA or from Admin wallets on Snapshot. Core and Protocol proposals have voting periods ranging between 24 hours and 120 hours.
Proposal Blocktimes: Voting power is based on the veMPAA balance at the blocktime the proposal was submitted. Any veMPAA acquired after the submission of a proposal cannot be used to vote on that proposal.
The voting process is designed to drive discussion and consensus for all proposals, ensuring that changes to the protocol reflect the community’s collective decision.
